The ESP LTD MH330FR Electric Guitar is a working musicians guitar with pro features. Floyd Rose Special bridge offers smooth and stable tremolo dives and ESP ALH-200 active pickups pump out searing hot tone.

ESP LTD MH-330FR Electric Guitar (Electric Blue) Review

I just got this guitar a few days ago. It is being discontinued, thus the cheap current price, and I grabbed it from a non-Amazon affiliated online retailer. The workmanship is immaculate, the blue looks gorgeous and the Floyd Rose tremolo was perfectly set up. It showed up at my doorstep slightly out of tune, but that was remedied after about a minute with the help of my tuner. The action was decent and there was no buzzing except if you hit the low E REALLY hard. It stays in tune extremely well, even after giving the trem arm a good workout. The body is thin, as is the neck profile, and is sexy as all get out.

The only quibble, really, with this guitar is the ESP designed active pickups. They're somewhat better than, say, what Epiphone put on their 1958 Korina Explorer (I changed those out with some Super Distortions), but they lack a bit in the bite department. Also, the neck pickup may strike some as a little too hot, depriving it of the kind of creaminess that many players want there. The cleans were OK, but nothing special. Mind you, the sound you can get out of them is pretty decent for a guitar that normally streets for $499, but, for example, I like Dean's DMT humbuckers, even as generic as they sound, better than the ones on this instrument. Also, for EMG aficionados, these will not get the job done. If you want to do some serious chugging, this probably isn't going to get it for you unless you're looking for more of a classic rock palm muted sound. For $349 including shipping, though, and for a more demanding musician, this would make an excellent project guitar. I might end up putting Evolutions in mine, but maybe not. If you want to gig with it, however, a changing out of the pickups and probably the electronics, too, is warranted.

If you're a beginner or you have a son or daughter who wants to start learning to play, buy this guitar! ESP's LTD line is the best budget line of any of the major guitar manufacturers and, for about another $300 to upgrade the pickups and wiring (labor inclusive) you can more than respectably gig with it.
