Harmony H54-RBS Electric Hollow Body Guitar Review

I suppose it's possible to get a lemon with anything you buy. I just want to say mine is NOT poorly constructed and stays in tune perfectly. I own 3 original vintage Harmony Rockets and the reissue plays and sounds just like the ones from the 60's. There are a few differences between the originals and the reissue.
#1, The originals did not have the inside edge of the "f" holes painted white. The reissue does.
#2, The reissue has a black face on the headstock. The originals were stained the same color as the body of the guitar.
#3, The originals have 3 on a strip tuners with exposed gears. The reissue has 6 individual tuners with chrome covered gears.
#4 The red burst color scheme on the reissue is very different from originals. Although There were originals with a red burst color, it was quite different from the reissue.
#5 The originals were made in the USA and the reissues are made in Korea.

The finish is flawless and it shines like a new car. The neck is straight and the setup was very good right out of the box. Nice low action makes it easy to play without killing your fingers. The gold foil pickups sound awesome for that 50's rock 'n roll sound. It has an adjustable bridge so you can adjust the action to your liking. I am very pleased with mine and would recommend one to a friend.

Anytime you have a guitar that won't stay in tune, there's got to be a logical reason. Usually it's due to the way the strings are wrapped around the tuning posts. Once the string is put through the hole, the first wind goes over top the string through the hole, and the rest go under it. That locks the string in place and keeps it from slipping. I can't imagine a guitar coming from the factory that wasn't strung properly. If you want to spend a little extra money, locking tuners are always an option. I have no problems with mine and I'm very pleased with it just as it is. Any time you buy a new guitar, it's normal to have to tune it a few times until the new strings stretch and become broken in. Changes in temperature and humidity will also affect the tuning of your guitar. I love my Harmony Rocket and have no regrets buying it.
