In context, I am a Hagstrom believer, I own 3 (one's a collectors item - world's first synthesizer controller guitar). ;-)

That said, I feel the Hagstrom F-series guitars are great, and are certainly a serious choice option for anyone looking for an "ESS-GEE"-style :) solid body with humbuckers. One good point is that these F-series' bodies and neck construction are well balanced and do not neck-dive, unlike the similar-bodied ones made by the G-name and E-name companies.

I like slim necks, also, so the Hagstrom slim C-style neck cross-section is my ideal. The faux-ebony "resinator" fretboard has excellent tone, holds up better than wood, looks great. F-series fingerboard radii are on the larger side (15"), flatter - excellent if shred/metal is in your interest, but still great and very playable for most/all styles.

Note these are new-generation models and are made in the far east, not in Sweden. However, the wood and build quality is very good, especially considering the typical price ranges for these models. At least as good if not much better than that made by the E-name company; I am still unclear on what justifies the prices of the factory classic-based models put out by the G-company. I'm not trying to start any debates, however...

Regarding this Amazon webcatalog entry - know what you are buying. The photo displayed on this item for a while, and as of 08/03/2013, is Not an F-200 - but instead an F-20T (that has humbuckers and the full contact tremolo).

The F-200 has humbuckers and a tune-o-matic style non-tremolo bridge (in virtually all examples I've seen). Meanwhile, the F-200P has P-90 style pickups, and includes the FCT2 tremolo like the F-20T.

Amazon, you should try to get accurate photos for this item, and/or maybe list the F-200 and the F-200P separately.

Overall, I recommend the Hagstrom F-series. I'm very happy with my F-20T.
