I am a jazz and multi-style guitarist from the Ft.Worth area. Over my forty + years of playing, I've touched and owned a lot of guitars. This is one of the best guitars, for what it is, that I have every purchased. After a year and a half of owning this guy I'm still blown away. I traded away a '70 Martin 000-28 a few years back, and needed something to fill that niche. Well, let me tell you, this Eastman E10-OM beats the Martin in every category: tuning, playability, tone, and volume. The workmanship of all Eastman instruments (I own three) is marvelous. These aren't just "good for the money", they are damned good instruments. I spoke with the Eastman guitar rep at length and he wised me up to these babies. He shared the gospel of adirondack spruce and how all the glory Martins (from the 1930's) and the Gibson Loar mandolins used adirondack spruce. I was told that the volume this spruce produces is unparalleled. I am a believer. I have played many new Martin EC 000-28's, and this guitar, in my opinion is superior. Although the body here is made of mahogany, it thumps like it's rosewood. Of the Eastman flatops I've played, I've connected more with their mahogany body guitars. I paid about $800.00 for my Eastman E10-OM. That price is ridiculously low for an instrument of this caliber. A friend, who is an old, chiseled flatpicker put his hands on this guitar and declared it a "banjo killer".......that's a very good thing! Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Eastman E10OM Orchestra Model Acoustic Guitar" are high quality item.
