Emerson EF106S Flute Review

This flute is a beautiful open-hole flute with in-line keys. It comes with hole covers if you choose to use them. I wanted a flute to return to playing but I knew I would not be happy with most of the flutes within my price range. After a considerable amount of comparing and researching, I decided to give this one a try. The flute has a nice tone and the keys seat well. The higher register can be played easily. I mention this because on many beginner priced flutes, the upper range is compromised and pads begin leak over a short period of time. Tuning was easy with very little adjustment needed.

As someone who played flute for 14 years and has experience with flutes from much higher price ranges, this flute gives you a lot for the money. If you are a parent and want to get your child a good instrument to begin with, this flute is the one to purchase unless you are willing to spend much more. It's important that the instrument work well when children are learning because they get frustrated and lose interest in the music if they have problems with the instrument.

The flute comes with a very nice case and carrying case. As with any woodwind instrument, I would recommend a quick cleaning after each use to remove excess moisture.
