Our CJ 290SCE jumbo cutaway is now available in a pure acoustic version, the CJ 290S, with an elegant flame maple back and sides. A grand sound all in all, with booming response and great balance and projection. Premium features include a solid spruce top with quarter sawn scalloped X bracing, tortoiseshell pick guard and abalone rosette, Ivoroid binding, maple neck with dual action truss rod, 20 fret rosewood fingerboard with smaller (3 mm) dot inlays, compensated rosewood bridge with bone saddle and abalone dot black pins, gold hardware, factory mounted forward strap button with internal block reinforcement.

Purchased this about three months ago. I bought mine online but had the opportunity to compare several 12-strings in this price range at a local music store. I played the Takamine (at $750) and the Martin (at $650). I was prepared to purchase the Martin as I already own a Martin 6 string. But I spent a good hour narrowing down my choices to these three. The Takamine is a very attractive guitar, but the sound is about equal to the Fender. The Martin had a slightly better sound in the bass tones, but you really had to listen for it. Or maybe I was a bit biased since I love Martins. At any rate, the final conclusion was this: Playability: All had great action; easy to play - for a 12-string. Sound/Tone: As I said, they were all about equal. Looks: The Takamine is a great looking guitar, it'll wow you with its looks. The Martin looks like a Martin. I chose the Fender and saved about 250 bucks over the Takamine. I've played live and have recorded with this guitar. All very, very good. If you're a player and are looking for a decent 12-string that won't break the bank (yeah, Martin, Taylor, etc have them for thousands of dollars), this Fender is right up your alley. Go down to your local music store and compare as I did. You'll be surprised. To be quite honest, I never even considered buying a Fender acoustic. I'm glad I did. Way to go, Fender!
