From the hand-carved, hand graduated solid spruce top and Flamed Maple back and sides to the abalone/mother-of-pearl fern headstock inlay, these mandolins update Golden Age craftsmanship for the modern era. Carved and assembled in the Loar Hand Carved Design Workshop, then hand-rubbed with nitrocellulose lacquer for clean warm tone and powerful projection, the all new A-model gives players the � chop� that could only be previously found in instruments that were decades-old. The Loar Hand Carved A-model mandolin is assembled with a one-piece, rounded v-profile flamed maple neck and bound rosewood fretboard, compensated ebony bridge and vintage-style tuners. The bone nut and ebony bridge allow for the singing sustain that professional players look for in a high-quality hand-assembled mandolin. i have to say, these mandos are great. i have an old gibson F5 from the 1930's. it needed neck and fret work, and i bought one of these for the interim. it truly chops, is well set up from the factory, and, well, i am finding i am falling in love with it....i rarely write reviews, but had to do so. i went to a bunch of new england shops and played mandos from 350 dollars to 6500 dollars, and this one was the best, hands down. about to take it to UK. thanks, debra from lonesome sisters
